According to new studies from the University of Texas Health Science Center, diet sodas actually increase the risk for obesity, especially in people only consuming diet sodas. Their risks were even higher. In other studies were sweetened soft drinks were consumed the results were not the same. It is important to continue to eat a balanced diet, exercise regularly, and limit drinking soda and soft drinks for weight loss and other health concerns. Diet sodas may not cause obesity but they may be linked to it.
It is important that people remember that just drinking a diet soda or soft drink by itself, or drinking it with a large meal that is not healthy for you, does not mean that you will lose weight. We still need a balanced diet full of plenty of nutrients and vitamins for good health and weight loss. Diet drinks may cause us to gain weight because they contain sweeteners but no calories and may make our bodies crave more calories. It is not a good idea to trick the body just by offering it empty calories. Our bodies need nutrients, vitamins, water and plenty of exercise as well. Without it, we will only gain weight and feel bad and will not be any healthier in the long run.
For these reasons and more, it is important that we try to avoid or limit diet soft drinks and sodas, especially when we are trying to lose weight. The best way to do so is to eat balanced meals, exercise regularly, consult a doctor about supplements and other concerns and limit foods and drinks with empty calories and sugar.
